A sailboat appears stuck under the Matlacha Bridge after high winds pushed into the pilings. There was one lane open on the bridge about noon, with vehicles backed up through the fishing village. The Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District said it would update the status as it unfolds.

Officials estimate the Matlacha Bridge will close for two hours as Hurricane Eta sends gale force winds across Southwest Florida. Traffic is backed up through Matlacha as people try to exit the bridge.
