Starbucks is opening a new location in North Port.

North Port is getting a new Starbucks store, the second location of the Seattle-based coffee chain to open within city limits.

The coffee company signed a lease with landlord WMG Acquisitions, LLC to bring a 2,500-square-foot location to the southeast corner of City Center and Sumter boulevards in North Port, according to records filed with Sarasota County in late May.

The initial term of the lease, which was signed April 5, is 10 years.

The other Starbucks in North Port is within the Publix-anchored Cocoplum Village Shops plaza at 17739 Tamiami Trail.

Starbucks has added several new Sarasota area locations recently. A new location in Venice at Jacaranda and Crestview boulevards opened within the last year, as did a store at University Parkway and Lorraine Road in Lakewood Ranch.

A Starbucks store at U.S. 41 and Laurel Road in Nokomis opened in 2018.
