Hidden behind Angler’s Cover, a condominium community on Marco Island, and right on the water is the Dolphin Tiki Bar & Grill.

There’s no need to contemplate whether you want to eat outside or in. There’s only outside. And every seat has a view.

Not sure if it was the crowd, the surroundings or what, but this usually-doesn’t-drink guy decided he wanted a daiquiri. Oh yeah, I know why. You might expect the strawberry, raspberry, mango or peach; but would you expect watermelon? I had to try. The taste was subtle, much like a watermelon; but I was expecting something more like a Twizzler.

For my entrée, I picked the blackened ahi tuna salad ($14.95). It comes with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and a cucumber wasabi dressing. I was warned about the dressing and requested it “on the side.” It was good, but stout. The ahi came in strips and was cooked to near perfection.

My partner in dine picked the boom, boom shrimp salad ($15.95), crispy greens, tomatoes, mandarin oranges, cucumbers, and topped with boom, boom shrimp. What is boom, boom shrimp, you ask? Breaded shrimp cooked in a chili sauce, usually mixed with cream or mayonnaise.

The shrimps were a good size and plentiful. And I must admit, I liked his dish a bit more than my own, even though I had no complaints.

With its down-to-earth vibes, Dolphin Tiki Bar & Grill is a great place to take in the day and the scenery and get to know Marco Island.
