Biggest June concerts in SWFL: 'Cello For Peace,' dueling pianos, Wheeler Walker Jr.

It's summer in Southwest Florida, and the live music scene isn't quite as jam-packed with big-name acts anymore. But there are still lots of great concerts to be found. 

Here are our picks for the top shows to see this June in Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs and the rest of Southwest Florida. We'll update as more concerts are announced.

Reiko and Friends

Former Southwest Florida Symphony violinist and concertmaster Reiko Niiya joins her musical friends for two concerts in Fort Myers. The program includes Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise,” Britten’s “Simple Symphony” and music by two Ukrainian composers. The first show starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4 in Cypress Cove's Edison Hall, 10100 Cypress Cove Drive, Fort Myers. That’s followed by a 2 p.m. show Tuesday, June 7, in Room J117/118 of Florida SouthWestern State College’s Rush Library, 8099 College Parkway, south Fort Myers. “Cello For Peace”

World acclaimed cellist, composer and multilingual singer Ian Maksin performs a touring concert supporting peace in Ukraine. He’ll sing in Ukrainian, Polish, French, Italian, Yiddish, Armenian, Farsi and several other languages (he’s fluent in 30). He’ll also perform original instrumental music from his new album, “The Alchemist.” 7 p.m. Sunday, June 5.  $15-$50. Country singer Lance Carpenter

The country singer performs and tells the stories behind his songs at a virtual concert for the annual Island Hopper Songwriter Fest. Carpenter (best known for co-writing Kelsea Ballerini's “Love Me Like You Mean It") has performed at the Lee County music fest three times already and is scheduled to perform again at the 10-day event this year (Sept. 16-25). The concert was recorded at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village and will stream on Island Hopper’s Facebook and Instagram pages and on the Visit Fort Myers YouTube channel. 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16.
