Ted Nugent

The Motor City Madman is returning to his home, one of them.

Ted Nugent — who, along with his wife, Shemane, owns a North Naples condo — will perform at 8 p.m. July 11 and July 12 at the Southwest Florida Performing Arts Center in Bonita Springs. Tickets cost $84 for orchestra, $74 VIP and $64 general admission, excluding fees and taxes.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for both shows.

“This is definitely our biggest show," said Brien Spina, who owns the venue that opened late last summer. "We’re really excited."

Ted Nugent performs in the 2014 "Shut Up & Jam" tour.

A Detroit-area native, Nugent, 68, lived in Jackson, Michigan, before moving years ago to Texas. His wife often stays at their Southwest Florida high-rise condo. Shemane Nugent and the rock star have been married for 28 years, and she's also an author and active in the Naples community.

Nugent's music career began in his teens when he performed with the Amboy Dukes in the mid-1960s. Among its hits was the 1968 psychedelic song "Journey To The Center Of The Mind."

In the 1970s, he performed under just his name and enjoyed commercial success with hits including "Cat Scratch Fever," "Stranglehold" and "Free-For-All." Nugent played with a rock all-star band, the Damn Yankees, in the late 1980s and early '90s with hits including "High Enough" and "Coming Of Age."

Ted Nugent performs during his 2016 tour.

Besides his music, Nugent has been known for his advocacy for the outdoors, the right to bear arms and his strong conservative stance.

“We’re really focused and committed to do a lot of these kinds of shows," Spina said. “A lot of the fan base are definitely willing to pay to see these big stars in a smaller venue."
