For Ben Allen it really was all about tonight, as in Monday night.

The Estero musician performed the Blake Shelton song on NBC's "The Voice" live with eight other finalists vying to win the competition.

Viewers can vote until 7 a.m. Tuesday to determine which four from each of the four teams received enough votes to move on. If Allen doesn't have enough votes, he'll perform Tuesday night to become the fifth finalist.

Before his performance in the first hour of the two-hour show, coach Gwen Stefani talked with Allen in a prerecorded clip.

“This song is really all about taking over the stage and showcasing away,” Stefani said in studio about her fiance's hit "All About Tonight."

“America is falling in love with Ben because he has a traditional sound in his voice. It’s something that people connect to because it feels comforting and familiar."

Stefani, the longtime lead singer for the rock band No Doubt, coached Allen about how to perform the song during the prerecorded clip.

"Because there's no audience, pretend that there was an audience," Stefani coached Allen, urging him to set up his phone in his hotel room, performing into the camera and watching the video.

He took her advice, looking into the cameras a few times during his live performance.

Afterward, Shelton — Allen's original coach — praised his performance.

"I'm jealous and I'm blown away at the same time," Shelton said. "I'm jealous becaue you slayed that song and you sing it to my fiancee. But I also wanted to kind of be you just then."

Carter Ruben, 14, from New York, was the other member of Gwen's team, ending Monday night's performers with a rendition of the popular Muppets tune "Rainbow Connection."

The other seven finalists: From John Legend's team: John Holiday, 35, of Rosenberg, Texas, Tamara Jade, 30, of Bowie, Maryland, and Bailey Rae, 18, of Roberta, Oklahoma, who was the final contestant to make it Tuesday night; from Kelly Clarkson's team: Cami Clune, 20, of Buffalo, New York; and Desz, 30, of Houston; and from Shelton's team: Ian Flanigan, 30, of Saugerties, New York; and Jim Ranger, 39, of Newport, Arkansas.

Later in the show, Allen sang with two other finalists, Jade and Flanigan, when they performed the 1978 Don Williams country hit "Tulsa Time."

Allen has survived since late October when season 19 began. He made it through Blind Auditions in late October and Shelton needed less than eight seconds to turn around his chair. Stefani and coach John Legend followed before Allen chose Shelton.

He went on to win the Battle and Knockout Rounds in November.

Last week, Allen made it to the final out of a total 17 competitors. Fans could vote for the first time Nov. 30, as they did Monday night.

For Allen, it's been a dream to make the show after three tries. A Tennessee native, he moved to Naples in 2009 and taught himself to play guitar. He formed the Ben Allen Band that has played nearly 200 shows a year in Southwest Florida since 2014.

Allen went on Faceook after his solo Monday night to thank fans and urge them to vote.

"I hope I was able to bring some energy and impress everybody," he said in the selfie video.

"I tried to do my best for Southwest Florida and everybody. I love y'all."
