As a subsidiary of Keep America Beautiful, Keep Collier Beautiful coordinates volunteers, businesses and local municipalities to promote awareness, litter prevention, and community clean-up programs supporting our unique and fragile environment.

Each April they provide supplies, educational materials, and organization for the Bay Days cleanup event at beaches and waterways throughout the county. Friends of Tigertail participates by hosting the cleanup at Tigertail Beach.Celebrating Earth Day, the April 20 event brought 32 volunteers to Tigertail, including three students, county Parks and Rec representatives, Friends of Tigertail members, board members, and local and visiting families and individuals, all working together to improve the beach and park. Participants gathered 29 pounds of debris, with 5 pounds of recyclables and 24 pounds of other litter, representing a decrease from other clean-ups: a hopeful outcome.

During the event a few of the Friends of Tigertail board members worked to clear out the old nonproductive butterfly garden, transforming it to a beautiful pollinator garden along the boardwalk.

Hosting four clean-ups annually, the next scheduled event for Friends of Tigertail is July 6. For more information about this and other activities, consult their Facebook page or web site at friendsoftigertail.com.
