‘Watts for Dinner’: Snook Inn makes a bold and beautiful comeback

The Snook Inn is back and better than ever, after Hurricane Ian shuttered it for over a year.

The first thing you notice is the giant chickee hut, with more outdoor dining and drinking space. On the inside, the dining room is more open and the windows facing the water are clearer and larger.

First things first! Drinks! We ordered the “Pineapple Express” which features Pineapple Plantation rum, peach puree, fresh lime juice and a CBD gummy garnish. The gummies were incredible. The drink was refreshing and delicious. Just enough sweet without crossing the line into an after-dinner drink!

Things got off to an appetizing start with a selection from the “Island Time Snacks.” We selected the “Chop Stix & Shrimp” ($18) featuring tempura shrimp coated in a chili-herb glaze and a cooling Key Lime aioli. The shrimp were crispy and delicious. It was an amazing dish.

For my main entree,  I selected a dish from the “Island Specials” portion of the men, the “Luau Salmon” ($29). The filet features a pineapple-miso glaze and Maui Tropical salsa. It comes with coconut rice and green beans.

Everything about this dish was beautiful and amazing. The portion size was huge. The colors were vivid and the taste was exceptional. The green beans were crispy and the coconut flavor came through on the rice, although subtle. I highly recommend this dish!

My dining companion picked from the “Craft Sandwiches & Tacos” portion of the menu: The “Snook Inn’s Famous Grouper Sandwich” ($24). Likely the most-ordered sandwich on the menu.

It comes on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. You can request the grouper blackened or grilled. It comes with house potato chips, or you add fries or onion rings for a slight up charge.

Both of our entrees came with a trip to the famous salad bar. Yes, it’s back! With the pickle barrel, the incredible potato salad, bread and all!

The Snook has made a triumphant return with everything that made it a must-visit for guests and Islanders alike; and with some major improvements that will serve it well.

Come by boat, come by car; have a drink at the chickee bar! Happy eating!
