‘Watts for Dinner’: Rapid growth for Napoli On The Bay – and we understand why

Our next doing destination is Napoli On The Bay. It’s been over two years since our last official visit and since that time, Napoli has grown from six to eight locations here in Southwest Florida.

For the purpose of this review, the food came from the takeout location on Marco Island.

Things got off to an appetizing start, sharing a Greek salad ($12.99) — and yes, it’s plenty large enough to share. The salad features fresh ingredients and lots of feta cheese, so you know we enjoyed it.

We also shared two of the hot subs from Napoli — the eggplant pharm ($13.99) and the buffalo chicken ($13.99). When you order a sub from a pizza place you expect three things: the bread to be the best part of the sandwich, it to be piled high with ingredients and, last but not least, lots of cheese. And both of these subs met those expectations.

We also decided to share a medium vegetarian pizza ($20.99). It features mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, peppers, olives and fresh tomato. It’s a great sharing size and did not disappoint.

This was our first official visit since January 2022. During that visit we took home two large (16”) pizzas (eight slices), the “Napoli Supreme Pizza” and the “Buffalo Chicken Pizza.”

Both pizzas feature a wonderfully thin and crispy crust. Just the best! The buffalo featured lots of white-meat chicken and a thick layer of cheese.

The supreme had lots of toppings, but the sausage is so fine, it almost disappears into the dish. But that’s just a minor issue.

We also got the meat lasagna. It doesn’t look much like lasagna and I didn’t find any ricotta, but the meat was super flavorful. While it may not be the perfect lasagna, it is a perfectly great dish.

We also got a side of meatballs. It came with an abundance of sauce and a layer of cheese. Amazing taste! I’ll be having those again.

For dessert, tiramisu. For a small dessert in a plastic container, it had some big flavor. And you don’t feel too guilty afterward.

In addition to hot subs, Napoli On The Bay Pizzeria offers cold subs including the ham, turkey breast, prosciutto or the ‘Italian Special’ – capicola, salami, provolone and pepperoni. Sandwiches feature Boar’s Head meats, a personal fav.

Napoli On The Bay is a great place to go for a fresh, hot and quality Italian takeout. And at the rate it’s growing, you’ll never have to go far, no matter where you are. Happy eating!
