Kelly Ripa stays away from 'Live!' until Tuesday ... at least

Ripa was absent when Michael Strahan's impending departure was discussed on 'Live.'

Kelly Ripa is apparently still mad.

The host of Disney's syndicated talk-show franchise won't show up for work again until at least Tuesday, after she was surprised by news that Michael Strahan, her partner of four years on Live with Kelly and Michael, will exit the show in August to work fulltime on ABC's Good Morning America.

After Ana Gasteyer stepped in Wednesday, Dancing With the Stars'  Erin Andrews will co-host Thursday's show and another to air on Friday. Ripa had a previously scheduled vacation on Friday and Monday and had planned to pre-tape Friday's show. Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell was already scheduled to host Monday.

Michael Strahan to join 'GMA' as full-time co-anchor

Strahan's exit caught fans off guard but also Ripa, whom People and other outlets say was made aware of the change after Tuesday's show, and only minutes before the news was announced publicly.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Disney made sure to praise Ripa and suggested it will include her in recasting the show, saying Live "continues to be a vibrant and enduring franchise under our lead host, the extraordinarily talented Kelly Ripa.  Live has successfully transitioned co-hosts twice before and will do so again. Together with Kelly, ABC and the Live team will begin a new search" to replace Strahan, using on-air tryouts starting in September as it did when he was hired in 2012.

The show replaced Kathie Lee Gifford with Ripa in 2000, and Strahan took over for Regis Philbin, who left in 2011. Strahan, a former NFL player who will continue hosting Fox NFL Sunday, has been a part-time correspondent at GMA since 2014.
