The Florida Department of Health reported 84 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death in Collier County on Friday.

Collier's cumulative case total is 10,202 and its total COVID-19 related deaths increased to 131.

The department identified the newly verified death as a 75-year-old man whose positive case was counted by the state on July 31.

Collier's overall positivity rate dropped slightly to 16.53% Friday, second to Dade (19%) among Florida counties with at least 2,800 COVID-19 cases.

One positive trend continued as Colier's seven-day average for new cases dropped under 100 through Thursday to 89.29, the lowest it's been since June 21 (86.71).

A total of 718 people in Collier County have been hospitalized for COVID-19 as of Friday, according to the report, but that number does not reflect the people currently in the hospital, according to the Florida Department of Health.

As of approximately 11 a.m. Friday, there were 134 COVID-19 patients being treated in Collier County hospitals, according to data from Florida's Agency for Healthcare Administration. That's seven more patients since approximately the same time Thursday. The county also had 19.6% of its total hospital beds available and 36.4% of its adult ICU beds available, according to the AHCA.
