The Sneaker Party is coming back to Pensacola to show off some of the most stylish and exclusive shoes on the market.

Started by three friends, the Sneaker Party is a sneaker convention that includes more than 40 vendors buying, selling and trading new and rare shoes and merchandise.

The event will be held at Booker T. Washington High School at 6000 College Parkway from noon p.m. to 5 p.m. April 3. There is a $10 entry fee and $75 fee for a vendor table.

Longtime friends and owners of Pressure Footwear and Apparel Brandon Capehart, D'Andre Toler and Dalonté Gibson are hosting a Sneaker Party at Washington High School on April 3. The event will bring sneakerheads together to buy, sell and trade vintage shoes and get the latest footwear styles.

The three friends, Brandon Capehart, D'Andre Toler and Dalonté Gibson, grew up playing basketball together. After they graduated high school, Capehart and Gibson began helping Gibson's brother, Marcus Berry, promote his Grind til We Rich clothing brand in Pensacola.

Eventually, Toler suggested expanding their business by creating their own sneaker convention. He came up with the idea of a party for sneakerheads to come and enjoy themselves.

"I wanted to bring a sneaker convention to Pensacola because I love sneakers and the culture," Toler said. "I wanted an event where the entire sneaker community could come together and show off their sneaker collection but also allow them to make money as well."

Since all of them played basketball, their love of sneakers has always been ingrained in them.

Capehart, who owns dozens of pairs of sneakers, said he knew it would be a great idea to combine their love of sneakers and finding other avenues to make money.

"I've always been a sneakerhead and into sneakers," Capehart said. "So I thought, let me do something to bring all the sneakerheads together."

The trio planned to have their first Sneaker Party in March 2020, but the pandemic made them wait for an entire year. Then in February 2021, they finally held their first Sneaker Party at the Town & Country Plaza shopping center on North Pace Boulevard.

They brought out about 500 people and 40 vendors to the event. Since then, they have had a Sneaker Party every few months at Pine Forest High School or Booker T. Washington High School, and the party has continued to grow.

The group opened Pressure Footwear and Apparel at 85 W. Hood Drive in January. The store sells exclusive shoes and merchandise from brands such as Jordan, Yeezy and Supreme.

Gibson, who personally owns close to 200 pairs of shoes, loves the store because of what it provides for a smaller city like Pensacola.

"It's a small city so a lot of exclusive shoes don't drop here. They only drop in the big cities or boutiques or something like that," Gibson said. "So the point of the store is to bring those shoes here that everybody sees just on YouTube and on the internet. They never saw it in person, so that's what I get out of this. When somebody comes in here like, 'Man, I've never seen those in person before' that's who we do it for."

Now with the store and the fifth Sneaker Party event set for April, the three men hope to bring together their fellow sneakerheads within Pensacola and help grow the culture.

For Toler, Sneaker Party allows others to come together and find exclusive shoes you can’t get anywhere else.

"There's not much to choose from in the mall," Toler said. "So it allows sneaker consumers to have an opportunity to purchase exclusive sneakers in an intriguing atmosphere."
