It's been one year, three months and 24 days since Lauren Dumolo, 29, of Cape Coral, went missing.

From the moment she was gone, her family and friends never gave up looking for her hoping that one day they could "Bring Lauren Home."

Quickly, the community rallied around them and helped in the search.

On Wednesday, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno announced that skeletal remains found on a Pine Island lot Oct. 5 could match those of Lauren. The remains appear to be that of a white woman, aged 30 to 50 and are 6 months to five years old.

He and Cape Coral Police Chief Anthony Sizemore issued a plea for dentists in three states to search their records for any of her dental X-rays. She had a tooth removed a decade ago, possibly in the northeast.

Cassie Carey, Dumolo's sister, went to the beach with Lauren along with Carey's two children and Dumolo's boyfriend Gabriel Pena. Dumolo had just been involuntarily hospitalized for the first time after family said she had been hearing voices and thinking people were after her.

Lauren built sandcastles with her niece and played with her nephew. When the two sisters said goodbye, Lauren promised she was OK, Carey said.

A few days later, Lauren was hospitalized for a second time. She started acting odd and told her father, Paul Dumolo, that she had no idea what was happening to her.

Before these two hospitalizations, Lauren never had any mental health issues.
