Collier schools are starting back up on Aug. 31.

The Collier County school board voted unanimously Tuesday to push back the school start for a second time following a discussion about the 2020-21 academic calendar.

Teachers' new start date is Aug. 17.

The district originally scheduled the first day of school on Aug. 12 and then pushed the date by one week to Aug. 19 at a work session.

This month, Florida's Department of Education issued an emergency order requiring brick-and-mortar schools to reopen for instruction this August.

Summer break is now delayed by a little more than one week.

The last day of school for students is June 11, which switched from June 2.

Important dates from this calendar:

First day of school — Aug. 31

Last day of school — June 11

Winter break — Dec. 21-Jan. 1

Spring break — March 15-19

Collier's high school graduations are still slated for Memorial Day weekend.
