Vice President Mike Pence arrives at Naples Airport

Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Naples just after 10 a.m. Thursday for his visit to Ave Maria University. 

Pence was greeted by Naples resident Daniel Mezzalingua, the former president of Production Products Company, and his wife, Kathy Mezzalingua. 

A crowd of about 100 people, wearing mostly red, white and blue, with some Make America Great Again hats, was allowed to watch outside the Naples Airport terminal as Air Force Two landed.

The crowd was made up of friends and family of Pence’s staff, the Secret Service and local law enforcement, said Maureen Cummins, a spokeswoman with the vice president’s office. 

Pence was met with cheers and claps from the crowd as he departed Air Force Two. 

He spent a couple of minutes taking photos and shaking hands with members of the crowd after he arrived.

Pence will visit Ave Maria University and address the Ave Maria community at 12:15 p.m., according to his schedule.

Before he speaks, Pence will tour the Mother Teresa Museum on campus, which opened in February. 

Pence will address Ave Maria students, faculty and community members inside O’Bryan Performance Hall at the Thomas and Selby Prince building. The hall fits 400 seats.  

His visit comes just one day before President Donald Trump will give remarks at Lake Okeechobee near West Palm Beach. 

Pence will head to the Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Jacksonville after making remarks at Ave Maria University, according to his schedule.
