Marco Island has placed Fire Training Chief Grady Harrison on administrative leave after his arrest early Saturday on charges of domestic violence and obstruction.

Collier County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Harrison, 33, after responding to an emergency call in which a woman was screaming, "Help me," and said her husband was trying to kill her, according to the arrest report.

Deputies reported that when they arrived at the scene, they saw a man, later identified as Harrison, straddling a woman, pinning her arms above her head.

After handcuffs were put on Harrison, the woman told deputies that Harrison had choked her and threw her to the floor after the two began arguing.

The woman told deputies that she managed to briefly escape from Harrison twice but that he caught up to her. On one of those occasions, she reached the front door, where he grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back into the house, the arrest report states.

Fire-Rescue Chief Mike Murphy disclosed the arrest through a news release Saturday afternoon and referred all questions about the investigation to the Sheriff's Office. Murphy wrote that there would be no further comment on personnel matters.

Harrison has been employed with the city since Sept. 19, 2015, according to payroll records.
