The construction worker killed while removing a concrete wall at the Sun-N-Fun Lagoon  in North Naples on Tuesday was a 35-year-old Miami man, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony Michael Garcia was working for the Fort Myers-based Wildcat Renovation, LLC when he was killed, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

Deputies were dispatched to the waterpark at 11:45 a.m. and found the lower half of the man’s body was stuck under a concrete wall that fell on top of him, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy tried to pull the man out by his arms, but it did not work. Another deputy tried prying the concrete wall off the man using a long piece of lumber, according to the sheriff’s office.

Then another construction worker used a piece of construction equipment to lift the concrete slab while deputies pulled Garcia out, according to the sheriff’s office.

Garcia was not conscious or breathing when he was removed, according to the sheriff’s office.

Before it fell, Garcia was standing in a trench near the lazy river cutting the wall, preparing it for removal, according to the sheriff’s office.

Garcia was pronounced dead after he was transported to NCH North Naples Hospital.

A 40-year-old Naples mother and her children were at the water park when they heard a scream and saw the wall fall on Garcia. The mother and her children attempted to pull Garcia out from underneath before deputies arrived, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the man’s death by the sheriff’s office.

Wildcat Renovation provides selective demolition with minimal disruption, according to its website.

Al Miller, owner of Wildcat Renovation, released a statement after Garcia's death.
