Clemson coach Dabo Swinney raves about Naples restaurant Barbatella in video

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney says a Naples restaurant has scored a touchdown with him.

Swinney, whose Clemson Tigers team in early January defeated Alabama to win the football national championship, raved about Barbatella on Third Street South in a video.

He was discussing the recruitment of Naples High School running back Chez Melussi, who ended up committing last year to play for the Tigers.

In the video, Swinney discusses how he enjoyed dinner at Barbatella with the player and his father Mario Mellusi, who is the general manager of Barbatella.

Chez Mellusi of Naples carries the ball against Fort Myers during the Class 6A regional semifinal playoff game at Naples High on Friday night, November 16, 2018.

"This is one of my all-time favorite recruiting visits ever. Ever," Swinney said twice on the video that Barbartella emailed in a news release Wednesday.

Swinney discusses how Mellusi's father is from Italy and moved to the U.S. when he was 21 years old and moved to Naples eight or nine years ago.

"If you ever get down to Naples, Florida, there's an unbelievable restaurant called Barbatellas, in the nice little district downtown with Tommy Bahama next door," Swinney continued.

"We didn't order a thing. It just kept coming."

Swinney went on to describe the cheese plates, soups, eggplant Parmesan, pizzas, pasta dishes and more he and his staff enjoyed during dinner with the Golden Eagle recruit.

"Shout-out down there to Barbatellas in Naples, Florida," he said. "It was a lot of fun."
