Hurricane Irma: Sustained winds decrease to 150 mph, storm remains Category 4

Hurricane Irma's sustained winds have decreased to 150 mph and the Category 4 storm continues to move at 16 mph in a west-northwest direction. 

Irma is forecast to remain a powerful category 4 hurricane as it approaches Florida with the forecast cone continuing to show the storm's path across the center of Florida.

A turn toward the northwest is expected by late Saturday.  On the forecast track, the eye of Irma should move near the north coast of Cuba and the central Bahamas today and Saturday, and be near the Florida Keys and the southern Florida Peninsula Sunday morning.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles.

A hurricane warning and storm surge warning remains in effect for the Southwest Florida coast line starting from Bonita Beach and around the Florida southern peninsula to Jupiter Inlet.
